Sunday, January, 20, 2013 I have finally come to terms with us not being able to have kids.  If we do decide to adopt down the road there is always time.  We have kept our heads held high through this infertility process.  Remember to keep smiling as this is a long road no matter what […]

Re-connecting

Sunday, October 14, 2012 I am so excited as we finally got our tickets and hotel to San Francisco.  We are going in December for our anniversary.  Our second anniversary is tomorrow and this time away from everything is greatly needed.  We will do the normal sight seeing items, of Alcatraz, Fisherman’s Wharf, Union Square, […]

Open Adoption

Saturday, October 13, 2012 I have been looking into other ways of possibly adopting.  My sister has a friend who emailed me some information on Open Adoption.  There are a couple of definitions of Open Adoption.  The one people know about the most is if you adopt the birth parents could possibly want an open […]

Birthday – How Do You Feel

Monday, October 8, 2012 Today is my 41st birthday.  This is not how I pictured it would be when the day came around this year.  I was so certain I would be pregnant and that we would be moving towards a new chapter in our lives.  Everyone today kept asking me how do you feel […]

Weeks Have Now Passed

Sunday, September 23, 2012 Weeks have now passed since we received the news about our negative results.  I still think of possibly adopting a child from CPS.  There are so many kids on their website that need homes.  Pete is pretty much against this idea as these kids probably have a lot of emotional issues.  […]

What Would Have Been

Thursday, September 6, 2012 Anyone who knows me has seen how much I plan.  Pete and I already had names picked out for both a boy and a girl.  I also have a pinterest board with baby and nursery inspiration items.  I so wanted a yellow and gray nursery theme.  Those two colors are so […]

Final Dr. Burger Conversation

Tuesday, September 4, 2012 I spoke with Dr Burger this afternoon and she was very nice, candid and frank with me.  She did not suggest I try a fourth round of IVF becuase my body is responding the same with each cycle.  In a nut shell my egg quality is just not good, therefore I […]

Egg Donor and Egg Adoption

Sunday, September 2, 2012 We briefly discussed looking into an egg donor or egg adoption.  I did some research and I am not sure about either of these processes.  An egg donor is someone who will go through the IVF process minus the embryo transfer.  An egg donor is usually a family member or friend […]

Back To Our Normal Lives – Results Negative

Friday, August 31, 2012 I went and did the blood work this morning.  I did not get the results until around 4:00pm this afternoon.  The results came back negative.  I can say I was absolutely and totally shocked.  I really thought we had it this time.  My heart sunk to the floor.  The nurse Jamie […]

Tomorrow Is The Day

Thursday, August 30, 2012 Well, tomorrow is the day that we find out if we are negative or positive.  I have been trying to keep really calm, but subconsciously I believe I am anxious.  I have been up since 4:00am because I could not sleep.  We really do feel that it will work this time […]

Day 21 – Embryo Transfer + 3 / Acupuncture

Thursday, August 23, 2012 Just a small update.  My breasts hurt and I am cramping from the progesterone.  But all of this is normal.  I am still taking the doxycycline and medrol.  Luckily no side effects from either of those pills. I have completely cut out the caffieine until I get the results next week.  […]

Day 19 – Embryo Transfer + 1 / Acupuncture

Tuesday, August 21, 2012 We are now one day after the embryo transfer.  I took the day off to make sure I did not have too much stress.  The last couple of rounds of IVF I was so concerned and worried about work I think that stress may have affected the results.  Until I get […]

Day 18 – Embryo Transfer

Monday, August 20, 2012 All went well today.  We had two embryos that were transferred.  Of course I was a nervous wreck.  Luckily I was able to take Vallium before we left, which helped tremendously.  When I checked in we got our own room again which we loved.  The nurse gave me another Vallium while […]

Day 17 – Egg Retrieval + 2

Sunday, August 19, 2012 I started the cronine gel this morning for the first time.  This is a vaginal gel that gets inserted with an applicator.  Once inserted you squeeze the gel inside the vagina wall.  Let me tell you it was quite painful and uncomfortable.  I took out the applicator and I was bleeding.  […]

Day 16 – Egg Retrieval + 1

Saturday, August 18, 2012 I woke up feeling worlds better today.  I am still walking slow as to be careful not to hurt myself.  I accompanied Pete to the grocery store and Costco today.  He did all the heavy lifting, pushed the carts etc.  It did feel good to do something normal.  Pete also did […]

Day 15 – Egg Retrieval

Friday,  August 17, 2012 Well it is egg retrieval day.  We have to check in at 8:15am.  We went to the Austin IVF, which also has a St David’s center in the same building.  We walked in and the nurse Kristy greeted us and took us to our own private room.  This was really nice […]

Day 14 – Acupuncture

Thursday, August 16, 2012 I went to acupuncture today, which is perfect timing since my egg retrieval is tomorrow. The acupuncturist did a back treatment to help with the overall flow and stress in my neck. I always feel extra hungry after leaving my acupuncture appointments.

Day 13 – Bloodwork, Ultrasound & Lupron

Wednesday, August 15, 2012 I had another ultrasound today which confirmed the egg retrieval will be on Friday morning.  Two of the follicles are now at 20m, which means it is time to take the ovulation trigger shot. The nurse called me later this afternoon to confirm I would take the trigger sot at 9:15pm […]

Day 10 – Lupron, Menopur, Follistim & Dexamethasone

Sunday, August 12, 2012 I am so tired of feeling like crap.  I can’t get rid of the bloating, headaches, cramping and tiredness.  I think the meds this time around are also making me feel moody and down.  These are emotions that I am not use to having.  I am naturally usually very up beat […]

Day 8 & 9 – Acupuncture, Bloodwork, Ultrasound, Lupron, Menopur, Follistim & Dexamethasone

Saturday, August 11, 2012 What a day.  I started off at CPL around 8:10am to get my estradiol levels drawn.  I had acupuncture at 9:00am and then my ultrasound at 10:15am.  Luckily the doctor was running late for the ultrasound because so was I. My estradiol levels are at 383%.  My ultrasound still showed only […]

Day 7 – Acupuncture, Lupron, Menopur, Follistim & Dexamethasone

Thursday, August 9, 2012 Very, very tired today. I was reading some IVF blogs and they were saying the steroid gave them insomnia. I think I am having the opposite problem. I am flipping exhausted. I actually feel like shit today.  The meds this round are making feel really bloated and crampy. I had acupuncture […]

Day 6 – Bloodwork, Ultrasound, Lupron, Menopur, Follistim & Dexamethasone

Wednesday, August 8, 2012 I did blood work this morning to test my estradiol levels.  I also had an ultrasound, which showed some of the follicles responding to the meds.  There were a couple of the right that were at 5cm and 6cm.  On the left side of the ovary there were a couple of […]

Day 5 – Lupron, Menopur, Follistim & Dexamethasone

Tuesday, August 7, 2012 Nothing new to report today.  I am taking all three shots along with the steroid in the evening.  I am still doing all of the injections on my own.  I am use to it and with Pete working late I don’t want to wait till 8:00 or 9:00 pm. The shots […]

Day 4 – Lupron, Menopur, Follistim & Dexamethasone

Monday, August 6, 2012 In addition to the three shots I am now starting on a steroid in the PM.  The steroid is called Dexamethasone.  Below is the description and regular uses for taking Dexamethasone.  In the IVF world the steroid is suppose to decrease inflammation and help your system from not attacking the embryos […]

Day 3 – Lupron, Menopur & Follistim

Sunday, August 5, 2012 In addition to the Lurpon I have started on 150 units of Menopur and 300 units of Follistim.  On the last two cycles I was taking 300 units of Menopur.  Dr. Burger thinks that 150 units of Menopur will be enough.  She states sometimes a higher dose is not always better.  […]

Day 2 – Lupron

Saturday, Aug 4, 2012 I am still on the AM and PM does of Lurpon.  No side effects are taking place.  I start the Menopur and Follistim on Sunday.

Day 1 – Lupron

Friday, August 3, 2012 I started the Lupron injections today.  I am taking 10 units in the AM and 10 units in the PM.  The needle for the Lupron is skinnier than the other injections.  It is 28 1/2 thin, which is good.  Below is a re-cap of what the Lupron is used for Lupron […]

Hysteroscopy Proceudre

Friday, July 27, 2012 I had the hysteroscopy today and the recovery was quite rough.  To my surprise I did not have an IV issue.  Yes, I was nervous but the nurse did a great job numbing my hand and inserting the IV.  As usual the anesthesiologist came by and talked with us along with […]

Acupuncture – Ear Seeds

Sunday, July 22, 2012 I had another acupuncture appointment today.  I went to a new place where I had purchased a groupon.  The new place Elm Acupuncture is closer to the office and they take my insurance.  I already paid Reproductive acupuncture a first payment.  I am going to go to both places and alternate […]
