Day 8 Shots – Menopur, Follistim & Cetrotide

I received a call from one of the nurses today and was informed to continue with Menopur and Follisitim but to add the Cetrotide shot. The office is estimating egg retrieval will now be sometime in the middle of next week. This works well since Pete has a lot of school work and a test Monday evening. Uuuugh my nightly shots have been extended for 5-6 more days.
I decided to give Pete a small break tonight and give the shots to myself. I gave myself the Menopur and Follistim shot in the inner thigh again. I was much more careful and pulled the needles out straight. The Cetrotide shot was a longer needle, which made me squeamish. I called Pete downstairs and he was so surprised I had already finished with the other two shots. He was so proud of me that I did these on my own. We went ahead and gave the Cetrotide shot in the stomach. The needle was a tad thicker than I remember and did not glide into my skin as easy.
One thing I have come to learn is that ice is your best friend before and after the shots.
Pete brought home my favorites girl scout cookies Samoas to make me feel better. 🙂
