Consultation With Texas Fertility Center – Dr. Burger

Thursday, July 5, 2012

Today we had a consultations appointment with Dr. Burger at Texas Fertility Center http://www.txfertility.com/.  We decided to go to their facility for a second opinion.  This fertility center has higher SART data for women in my age group.  This means their percentage is higher for getting women pregnant and with live births.

Here is the link for the SART data http://fertilitysuccessrates.com/report/Texas/women-41-42/data.html

To sum up our appointment with Dr Burger she suggested also taking Coenzyme CoQ10 in addition to the DHEA.  She also said continue with the acupuncture.  She also thinks putting me on the second protocol I used would be best because it is the most aggressive.  I will be on the birth control pill for one month so my ovaries can rest.  Then once I start my menstrual cycle we will move forward with the meds.  In addition she is recommending only 150 of Menopur and 300 of the Follistim.  As we go along we can adjust as needed depending on how my follicles are growing.  We are also doing some more blood work on the thyroid to rule out any issues there that might need addressing.

One thing I do like about the Texas Fertility Center is Dr Burger is my doctor all the way through my IVF cycle.  She will do all of my ultrasounds, egg retrieval and embryo transfer.  At RMA there were different doctors depending who was on call.

The only issue so far with this center is their Austin IVF Lab is considered out of network on my insurance.  So this means for one cycle we will have to pay out of pocket about $4,200.

If Pete would not have made the stupid decision during his open enrollment by not adding me on his insurance we would not be in this mess.  His insurance covers %100 of IVF treatments.  I am still not over this rash decision he made on his own without consulting me.  It will be awhile before I can get past this mistake.  I will forgive but I will not forget :).
