The Texas Center For Reproductive Acupuncture

Tuesday, July 3, 2012

Today I had my first acupuncture appointment at The Texas Center For Reproductive Acupuncture  http://www.texasfertilityacupuncture.com/.  I actually was not nervous at all.  I think since I have been poked and prodded so much lately this is a cake walk.  Acupuncture treatments facilitate and improve blood circulation throughout the body, and help to stimulate and balance the body’s hormones.

How are acupuncture and infertility related?

Research has demonstrated that acupuncture has the ability to regulate blood flow to the ovaries and uterus and lower cortisol (one of the stress hormones that inhibit the reproductive system). There are also several studies published in the journal Fertility and Sterility that demonstrate how acupuncture treatments, when combined with IVF, can improve pregnancy rates by 12-50% compared to higher those who did not receive acupuncture

The acupuncturist Misty explained that reproductive acupuncture helps align my chi/spirit, increase blood flow to the uterus and also helps sustain progesterone in the body.

We started out small with the minimum number of needles.  I laid on my stomach on a massage table.  She put needles in my ankle, lower back and on the back of my thigh.  The needles did not feel like anything going in my skin.  After she was done I rested in the dark for 30 minutes.  The acupuncturist came back and removed the needles.

I made another appointment for Saturday.  I am suppose to go see the acupuncturist twice a week.
