Day 15 – Progesterone Shot

Thursday, May 31, 2012

The dreaded progesterone shot.  OMG, and crappola the shot this evening was horrible.  I prepped everything while Pete was on his way home.  Warmed the syringe with a hot washcloth and iced the injection area.  As soon as Pete walks in the door I have him put everything down and give me the shot right away.  The sooner this shot is over the better.

We did the shot on my left side today and i flinched as the needle went in.  I though that is weird the shot did not hurt like that yesterday.  As soon as he pushed the medicine in I felt major stinging.  About halfway through it was still stinging and I was feeling nauseous. When he pulled the needle out there was a lot of blood.  Even Pete was like you are bleeding a lot.  I got dizzy, clammy and went to the bathroom right away.  I thought I was going to throw up.  My arms and hands got tingly and numb like.  I just took deep breaths as I was leaning over the toilet.  I did not throw up and made my way back to the couch to sit on the heating pad.

I did some research and online and it turns out we may have hit the nerve that runs down the middle of the bum.  I do not think I can keep doing these shots.  I looked up alternatives and I found a vaginal gel that I could possibly use instead.  I will be calling RMA first thing in the morning to see if I can use Crinone gel.  http://www.crinoneusa.com/patients/progesterone_support.html
