Blood Work & Ultrasound

Monday, February 20, 2012

This morning I had an ultrasound and blood work done.  I felt more pressure with the ultrasound today than I did last week. I think that was because I am cramping a little bit.  The ultrasound tech Wendy still is not great at taking blood but I let her do it anyway.  I go back for labs and an ultrasound on Wednesday and possibly on Friday.  On the ultrasound scan there was no growth of the follicles showing yet.  The appointment on Wednesday should show significant growth.  If there is growth of the follicles then I should be given instructions as to when I should take the HCG shot, which triggers ovulation.  After I take the HCG shot the egg retrieval is scheduled 34 hours afterwards.

The nurse confirmed that I can give the nightly shots to my inner thigh.  Just as long as there is 1 inch of fat to squeeze for the needle to be injected.  Tonight I give both shots to myself as Pete has school.  We will see how that goes.

Test results from ultrasound on 02/15/12.  Estradiol = 100% (in follicular phase – test function of the ovaries) /  FSH = 2.8 (luteal phase -when the follicles in the ovaries mature and is the  time period that’s calculated from the day after ovulation and runs through the remainder of a monthly cycle)
